Need Help!

Okay, I want to buy a bassinet for this new little one. I wanted a Moses Basket a while back and now I think why not get the best of both worlds and just get a bassinet that you can also take the top part off and set places?? Anyway, I like this one but don't like all the white. I am wanting to dye it all a chocolate brown. Anyone have any experience with dying? The only dye I know of is Rit. Do you think it will turn out? I don't want to buy it and ruin it!

Also, have any of you ever seen brown wallpaper/trim anywhere that the bottom is large scallops instead of a line. I am wanting to line the top of Em's room with it. I've Googled like crazy and found nothing!

I used that fabric dye for Nick's Halloween costume (his Peter Pan spandex) and it worked okay for Halloween, but it didn't seem like it dyed it a solid/EVEN color; and the color was lighter and a little different color of green than the box....so I would just be careful; especially where you're probably spending alot on the bassinet. I didn't care, because I only spent $5 on the leggings! :)

Sorry. I have no idea. You're always the one with the answers. I'll keep my eye out though.

You have to dye it a couple times to get it to look even and the same color. So you soak it, pull it out, rinse it down, let it dry a bit, and then start again. It is tricky though. I would have a plan B in case it turns out awful. Have you ever made bed covering? You could try something like that if you don't like the white, but i think it is pretty. good luck!

I having been looking for Bassinets too! Haven't found one I like yet. THere is one at Pottery Barn Kids I am considering...but who knows, its kinda pricey for just a bassinet, but what isnt pricey at Pottery Barn! Also, I wanted to tell you about this amazing double stroller I found. Its by Bumbleride. Google it and check it out, I think you would like it. Good luck with the bassinet!

I like the white. You can just do really flowery pretty blankets inside. Or change the bedding to brown or a really neat, girly print. I think white is classy though.

I also love the white and my experience with RIT color has always turned out a little uneven in color!! I wouldn't risk it!!

keep the white. i think if you want a splash of color...either piant the wood, or embellish the fabric with other colors you plan to use in the nursery. like with lace, or something of that sort. but i think that the white is a really clean baby-like color that goes with everything!

I just asked my mom, the seamstress, for you and she said the white lace might pull pink or even yellow depending on the quality of fabric. She said a good place to find out would be a furniture restoration store, they would know for sure. But I have to say that I had both of these contraptions with my little one and I used the moses basket way more. You can borrow mine for a test drive if you want. Good luck with all the fun renovations!

Kinda random comment from me. I found your blog thru Mahina. Anyhow.. I think you are my little brother Curtis Ritchie's age. GO BINGHAM huh :) I was Brauns age... you will have to tell him hi for me. You have such a darling family and I love your blog. So my suggestion on the wallpaper is to not use wallpaper. An alternative really cute idea is to buy unfinished scalloped wood trim. Then you can paint it the right brown to match the rest of the room. You may have to look a little so you are not paying a boat load for the trim but I think it looks really cute and adds a fun element to the room. Anyhow...good luck with it and congrats on baby girl #2!
